This is an island paradise off the coast of, ahem, another island paradise. Nusa Lembongan is a special place which for most will remind them of a sleepy, carless island of the olden days. Developed mainly with tourism money the island now has most of the creature comforts with good food, amazing scenery and nature by the bucket full. With two main villages and a population of just about 5,000 it is a little crowded but this is forgivable given its other charms. Getting around isn’t too difficult either considering the small size, and scooters and bicycles are available for hire. The main game in town are the watersports so get ready to get wet in this micro pleasure island.

What makes a Number 1 attraction or activity on Nusa Lembongan?

Nusa Lembongan is a small place, when you get there it may not feel so small, but after a day or so you’ll know what we mean. In this sense you wouldn’t expect too much in terms of things to see. This however is another time where your intuition may let you down. Despite its small size competition for the tourist dollar is high in Nusa Lembongan and standards can be relatively high. Add this to some of the natural sights the island has to offer and you have a lot of competition at the top.

What gets the others in?

The island is well known as a dive and surf location and for its size it offers more than enough in terms of accommodation, restaurants and other facilities. This list in particular is really a mixed bag of places, activities and the main elements of the island. In short you shouldn’t really leave the island without checking out at least a few of the entries, indeed it’s unlikely that you would considering how small the place actually is.

Final thoughts

The island, and the neighbouring island of Nusa Ceningan (which can be accessed via a bridge) really are fine examples of tropical island paradises. They offer a lot for the visitor and with their very high concentration of hotels and leisure activities you won’t be bored. For anyone who imagines or dreams of just whiling the time away by just free cycling in between locations in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere the island really is a find.
