In so many of our sister sites (Top Ten Perth, Top Ten Adelaide, Top Ten Brisbane) our main aim is to serve the people of that city with day trip ideas from the standpoint of them being located in the city we mention. This however is not the case in Bali as this top ten is for the whole island. For that reason we have decided that because most of the people going to Bali will base themselves in Kuta (in the south of the island) we would position the article from there. With this in mind we had absolutely no problems whatsoever finding some really amazing excuses to get out of the tourist hotspot.

What makes a number 1 day trips around Bali?

There are many Balinese cultural icons. The islands amazing features and jaw dropping scenery are a testament to the ingenuity of the people of Bali. The area has become highly commercialised in recent years so it is important to get out of the towns to see the amazing spots. This is where great day trips come into play. A top level day trip should have a feast for the eyes and should offer something uniquely Balinese. Additionally it should be something that entertains and offers something to the visitor apart from just eye candy.

What gets the others in?

All of the other locations have what Tanah Lot has, but in smaller amounts. They all have something unique to offer and very few can be compared to each other. In the end the best advice is to see which one most appeals to you as an individual. Would you be interested in a cultural experience (ARMA), or maybe a bit of a treck (Tanah Lot) or perhaps you want to get up close and personal with the areas amazing geography (Devil’s Tears). Whatever it may be this varied list offers a lot of what may turn you on.

Final thoughts

Considering how small Bali is (around double the same size as the Australian Capital Territory) it should be really easy to get around. It should be, but this isn’t necessarily the case. The island still has real poverty and this can be seen in the road and transport network. Admittedly it has improved in the past few years however you will need a little determination to get to where you want to go. With this in mind everyone should be proud going to Bali, a lot of money spent there in goes towards people who really are trying to build a good life for themselves, so enjoy yourself, and tip liberally.
